Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

We stopped here for dinner on a Friday night, driving from Lexington to Dayton. Nice atmosphere, except they do have a smoking section. Even though we sat in the non-smoking section, I could still smell the cigarette smoke. That's my only complaint. The service was prompt, very friendly and the food arrived at lightning fast. The food was delicious and the portions were large! We will likely stop here again when we repeat our weekend trip.

Finally, some solid Mexican food in Dry Ridge! This El Rio Grande is pretty much the same as the rest around Northern Kentucky, which is a very good thing. You get delicious Tex Mex, huge portions, and good service, all for a great price. The salsa is great, but be warned, it has LOTS of cilantro in it. For those of you out there that are unfortunate enough to hate cilantro, you may want to steer clear. No problem though, because their cheese dip is really good. My favorite entrees are the carnitas and the special fajitas, which have beef, steak, chicken, shrimp, and chorizo. I skip the shrimp and order extra chorizo with mine. The amount of meat and veggies you get is easily enough to make 8 huge fajitas, so be sure to get extra tortillas to go! The beer here is standard Mexican, so go with a Negra Modelo or Dos Equis Amber. This location used to be a Shoney's back in the day, but they've cleaned it up nicely, and the service was great for a Saturday dinner. I'll definitely be back!

I was looking forward to my visit since the service had been pleasant the last time I was there. For some reason this time was completely different. We ordered dinner, drinks, and an appetizer. They brought us our dinner and I don't think we ever would have got our drinks or appetizer if we had not asked for it (again). To be fair, the food was good, but I had had specifically asked for no cheese and my food was covered with it. I asked for a margarita THREE TIMES and never got it. When we were waiting for our ticket somebody else left angrily because they were tired of waiting for a server. After this experience I probably won't be back.

On a vacation trip, we were passing through Kentucky and found a convenient hotel stop in Dry Ridge. As we checked in we found we were in a dry county, but there was a restaurant within walking distance. It turned out to be a Mexican place and to our surprise they served alcohol. I asked the waiter how it is we can get a drink in a dry county and he said the county is actually "moist". They only had three wine selections and they were out of the merlot so we each ordered a chardonnay and it was very good. The Mexican food was delicious. I got the shrimp chimichanga and my wife had the enchilada ranchero----both were excellent. The service by Martin was friendly and perfectly timed. The prices were very reasonable---$37 total including 4 glasses of wine. Next time you are in Dry Ridge, Kentucky make sure you find this place.

The chimichanga was amazing. I mean AMAZING. My husband loved his quesadilla just as much if not more. What a hidden gem, easily accessible from I75, just behind Speedway. Looks sketchy on the outside, but the atmosphere inside is amazing. All the tables have original artwork! The service was great and fast, food was fast and super hot and delicious!!!!! Definitely adding this to our travel stops!!'

Absolutely delicious!!!! After a 7 hour drive, this was exactly what I needed :) I had the shrimp chimichanga which was to die for. Huge servings, and attentive service. There were plenty of vegetarian options on the menu, and authentic mexican dishes. Everything on the menu looked delicious!

Do not goto this place if you are looking for friendly service. We waited 20 minutes before someone took our order. The place was not busy. After 20 mins a guy came up and said has anyone taken your order? We said no. He said oh god. What's your order. He looked stoned out of his mind. I wasn't that hungry so I didn't order anything. I was going to have a bite of my husbands taco. So we got our order in like 30 seconds, which to me means it was sitting around and they just heated it up. He put the plate down that was super hot and didn't warn us. My husband burned his hand. He started to eat and as I took a bite of his taco the waiter walked by looked at us and just shook his head. Excuse me??? I took a bite!!!!! Then he came back with our check. Just set it on the table. I said I'd like some fried ice cream. He said oh and took the check back. Gave us our ice cream and then came back with the check and tried to shake our hands. I refused and told him he was very rude. He said I didn't mean to be. Sorry too late to get a tip buddy. I went to pay. All the waiters we standing by the register. The lady asked how it was. I said it was the worst service I have ever had. She said sorry about that and handed me my receipt. Really???
